Royal Challengers Bengaluru Innings:
Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis opened the innings for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They made an outstanding opening partnership of 125 runs off 84 balls. Yuzvendra Chahal broke this partnership in the last ball of the fourteenth over. He dismissed du Plessis and Jos Buttler took the catch. Faf du Plessis scored 44 off 33 balls and hit 2 fours and 2 sixes. Virat Kohli scored the first century of IPL 2024. Virat Kohli took 67 balls to reach the century. He finished his innings with an unbeaten 113 runs off 72 balls and hit 12 fours and 4 sixes.
Apart from these two, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s other batters were not successful. Glenn Maxwell and Saurav Chauhan scored 1 run and 9 runs respectively. Rajasthan Royals Innings:
Rajasthan Royals did not start well as Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed by Reece Topley in the second ball of the first over. Yashasvi Jaiswal has not been in top form in this IPL so far. After he got out, Jos Buttler and captain Sanju Samson put on a brilliant partnership of 148 off 86 balls. This partnership paves the way to victory for Rajasthan Royals. Sanju Samson scored 69 off 42 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes. Mohammed Siraj dismissed him in the fifteenth over.
After that, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel did not contribute much and they scored 4 runs and 2 runs respectively. But Jos Buttler batted exceptionally. When the team needed 1 run to win, he hit a 6 to reach his 100 runs and took the team to the target of victory. This was the second century of this match and also of this IPL. Jos Buttler scored unbeaten 100 runs of 58 balls and he hit 9 fours and 4 sixes. Shimron Hetmyer remained unbeaten with 11 runs off 6 balls. For Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Reece Topley took 2 wickets and Yash Dayal and Mohammed Siraj took 1 wicket each.
As a result of this win, Rajasthan Royals moved to the top of the points table and Royal Challengers Bengaluru remained in the 8th position.
