IPL 2024 Match 58 – Punjab Kings Vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru

The 58th Match of IPL 2024 was held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Punjab Kings won the toss and chose to bowl.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Innings:

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis came to open for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Virat Kohli could have been dismissed in the first over of the innings off Vidhwath Kaverappa, but Ashutosh Sharma missed the catch though it was not a very easy catch. Vidhwath Kaverappa got a wicket in the third over, he dismissed Faf du Plessis. Virat Kohli could have been dismissed in this over also but Rilee Rossouw missed the catch though it was really a tough catch. Will Jacks came to bat at number three, but he didn’t last long. He was dismissed by Vidhwath Kaverappa in the fifth over. Vidhwath Kaverappa could have got one more wicket in this over but Harshal Patel missed the catch of Rajat Patidar. Virat Kohli at the other end started to play in natural rhythm. At the end of the first 6 overs of powerpay, Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 56 runs for 2 wickets.

Since the catch was dropped, Rajat Patidar played brilliantly. He hit 3 sixes off Rahul Chahar in the eighth over. Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar put on a partnership of 76 runs off 32 balls. Rajat Patidar hit a six in the tenth over and reached to his fifty off just 21 balls. However, in the last ball of the 10th over he was dismissed by Sam Curran. He scored 55 runs off 23 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes. At the end of 10 overs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 119 runs for 3 wickets.

Cameron Green came to bat after that. He also played vey well. Virat Kohli and Cameron Green made a partnership of 92 runs in 46 balls. Virat Kohli was very aggressive and was keeping a strike rate of around 200. When it looked like he would score another century, he got out for 92 off 47 balls. Virat Kohli hit 7 fours and 6 sixes. He was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh in the 18th over. Then Dinesh Karthik came to bat and scored 18 runs in 7 balls with the help of 1 four and 2 sixes. He was dismissed by Harshal Patel. Cameron Green got out on the first ball of the 20th over. He scored 46 runs off 27 balls and he hit 5 fours and 1 six. Harshal Patel bowled brilliantly in the 20th over, he took 3 wickets and gave only 3 runs in this over. At the end of 20 overs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 241 runs for 7 wickets.

Among the Punjab Kings bowlers, Harshal Patel took 3 wickets, Vidhwath Kaverappa took 2 wickets and Arshdeep Singh and Sam Curran took 1 wicket each.

Punjab Kings Innings:

Rilee Rossouw and Prabhsimran Singh came to open for Punjab Kings. Swapnil Singh came to bowl in the first over for Royal Challengers Bengalur. In this over he gave 14 runs but took one wicket. He dismissed Prabhsimran Singh. After that, Jonny Bairstow came to bat. Rilee Rossouw and Jonny Bairstow put on a partnership of 65 runs off 31 balls. Although Rilee Rossouw could have been dismissed in the third over of the innings off Yash Dayal, but the catch was dropped. After that, however, Rilee Rossouw played brilliantly. When their partnership became dangerous, the partnership was broken by Lockie Ferguson. He dismissed Jonny Bairstow in the sixth over. Jonny Bairstow scored 27 runs off 16 balls. He hit 4 fours and 1 six. At the end of 6 overs of powerplay, Punjab Kings scored 75 runs for 2 wickets.

Rilee Rossouw played brilliantly, scoring a fifty off just 22 balls. Karn Sharma dismissed Rilee Rossouw in the ninth over. He scored 61 off 27 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. At the end of the first 10 overs, Punjab Kings scored 114 runs for 3 wickets. After that Punjab Kings lost the wickets of Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone in a short interval. Shashank Singh was playing brilliantly but he got run out by a direct throw of Virat Kohli. He got out in the 14th over. He scored 37 runs in 19 balls and he hit 4 fours and a six.
