IPL 2024 Match 55 – Mumbai Indians Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

The 55th match of IPL 2024 was played between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Innings:

Two devastating openers of Sunrisers Hyderabad – Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma came to open. They started well and after the first 5 overs they scored 51 runs. In the Anshul Kamboj dismissed Travis Head in this fifth over. But that ball was a no ball. So Travis Head was not out that time. After that he hit two fours in two consecutive balls. In the 6th over, Abhishek Sharma was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah and the wicket keeper Ishan Kishan took the catch. He scored 11 runs. Mayank Agarwal came to bat after that. In the 8th over, Travis Head could have been dismissed by Anshul Kamboj but Nuwan Thushara missed the catch. Mayank Agarwal was dismissed by Anshul Kamboj in this over. This is his first wicket in IPL. At the end of the first 10 overs, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 88 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.

Travis Head escaped being dismissed twice in this match and when it seemed that he would use this opportunity to score big, he was dismissed by Piyush Chawla and caught by Tilak Varma in the 11th over. He scored 48 runs off 30 balls with 7 fours and 1 six. Nitish Reddy, another young prospect was playing well, but he got out in the first ball of the 12th over scoring 20 runs in 15 balls. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma opened the innings of Mumbai Indians. Ishan Kishan got out in the second over, off Marco Jansen’s delivery. At the end of the first 3 overs, Mumbai Indians scored 31 runs for 1 wicket. And among these 31 runs, the extra run was 18! After that, Rohit Sharma was also dismissed in the 4th over by Pat Cummins. Mumbai Indians lost another wicket in the 5th over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Naman Dhir in the first ball of the 5th over. Mumbai Indians lost 3 wickets for only 36 runs in 5 overs.

Then Suryakumar Yadav started a counter attack in the 6th over. Pat Cummins gave 16 runs in the 6th over. After that, no other bowlers could trouble the Mumbai Indians batters. Suryakumar Yadav played incredible shots. one after another, sometimes over fine leg, sometimes over thirdman and sometimes through extra cover. He was well accompanied by Tilak Varma. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma put on a partnership of unbeaten 143 in 79 balls. Tilak Varma scored an unbeaten 37 off 32 balls. He hit 6 fours. Suryakumar Yadav scored 102 runs in 51 balls. He hit 12 fours and 6 sixes. This is Suryakumar Yadav’s 6th century in T20. Basically, due to incredible batting of Suryakumar Yadav, Mumbai Indians reached the target of victory in the 18th over. They won the match by 7 wickets.

Among the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen and Pat Cummins took 1 wicket each.
